Our Why

Our Why

Every business has a beginning and the "why" is the most important part of any business. Why do you do what you do? Why do you sacrifice rest and a social life in order to grow a business?

There are two "whys" in my story. It wasn’t until my grandmother’s passing that I truly realized the positive impact she had on her family and her community. She was a big part of my childhood and challenged me to be the best I can be. Her story taught me that ANYTHING is possible.

She grew up in rural Kenya without an education, but she was one of the smartest people I’ve ever known. To make a living, she began selling food on the side of the road. She ended up making enough money to rent out a veranda spot and began sewing clothes for the local community. But this amazing woman didn’t stop there! As her business grew, she began training other women and the business expanded and expanded. I think that’s when she really began to see the value of education.

Eventually, my grandmother co-founded Nyaburi Integrated Primary School and provided a platform for 500+ students to receive an education. Once the school was up and running, Salome continued to be a leader in her community. And she did all of this without an education!

So what's my excuse?

My wife, Rachel, is my second "why." We met at a low point in my life and she motivated me to be the man I am today. I had almost no strength to keep going, but I saw Rachel’s supreme strength and she proved to me I had plenty of things worth fighting for. I am ultimately in business to provide a better life for her and our future children.
